The International Personal Trainer Academy CPT is personal training certification launched in 2023 that focuses on entry-level certification for fitness professionals.

To qualify for our personal training certification, you must meet these three requirements:
– Be 18+ years of age
– Hold a high school diploma or the equivalent
– Hold a current CPR/AED certification

The IPTA CPT is accredited by the NCCA, as of January 2024. The NCCA is the gold standard accreditation for fitness organizations.

For the certification exam testing, we use Prometric and their associated companies. This allows testers to take their exam in-person at official proctoring locations or through remote proctored exams.

The IPTA CPT application process can be started from the IPTA CPT home page. We will go through your application to ensure you meet the requirements, and after application acceptance, you can schedule your exam.

The IPTA CPT Textbook is available for free from the textbook home page. The textbook is available on Kindle, Apple Books, and can be downloaded in a PDF format.

You can also buy a study program with us to help cut down study time and focus on passing the exam. This is complete with a study guide, flashcards, mnemonic devices, and more.

In compliance with national accrediting standards for certification programs, the International Personal Trainer Academy Certification Council, the governing body for the CPT certification program, is not involved in the development or delivery of review materials for International Personal Trainer Academy’s CPT certification examination.

The Council does not require candidates for its CPT certification to purchase training materials. Purchase of resources to prepare for the International Personal Trainer Academy CPT certification are optional and does not guarantee a passing score on the exam.

The IPTA CPT exam is a proctored and computer-based exam with:

– 135 multiple-choice questions (110 scored + 25 unscored/pretest)
– 3 hours to complete
– Offered in English

The IPTA CPT Exam Retake fee is $199.

The CNS is IPTA’s nutrition coaching certification designed to build practical nutrition knowledge and coaching skills. The course is also a specialization certification. It counts as 23 Continuing Education Credits when re-certifying for one of the IPTA certifications.

The IPTA CBS is IPTA’s bodybuilding-focused certification. It’s designed for coaches who want to work with physique/bodybuilding-style goals. This course is also a specialization course. It counts as 23 Continuing Education Credits when using the course for recertification purposes.

The IPTA CBS is typically a good fit for:

– Coaches working with hypertrophy/body composition clients
– Trainers who want more bodybuilding-specific programming knowledge
– Athletes/coaches preparing for physique-style outcomes

Not always. Some students take CBS as a specialization after CPT, while others start with a bodybuilding focus. If a student’s goal is to work as a personal trainer in a gym, CPT is usually the best starting point.

Our materials come in three package tiers. These are the Rookie, All-star, and MVP packages. Rookie is the most basic of the packages, All-star is an upgrade of the Rookie package and includes flashcards and practice tests, and MVP is the final ultimate package, including all study materials and a pass guarantee.

Our materials are handled through our own LMS learning platform. This allows us to have all study materials within one location, digitally, and easy to use on phone, tablet, or computer.

We do not include official textbooks with our study programs. We only include study materials for all programs unless it is our own the International Personal Trainer Academy certification program.

You can cancel monthly subscriptions, but amounts already paid are typically non-refundable. You can cancel from your Profile page, found in the top right of the home page when signed in. Click on billing details to cancel your subscription. If you need help canceling, contact support.

We suggest all users go through the instruction manual found on the home page once signing in on your trial or paid subscription account. This will go through all of the features in order to help you get acquainted with the study system. If a problem arises, reach out to one of the support channels on this site.

How long does it take to study your program and get certified?

Here at Trainer Academy we usually recommend that you spend 16 weeks studying. But, this can vary depending on how much knowledge you already have.
